Paintings 25 years old
(plus or minus) get a new coat of varnish and all the abuse I can muster; maybe they will be improved and maybe they won't. I have always proclaimed "painting" is Risk and Luck.

I liked Art Groups, some variable from isolation AND where The Artiste is NOT responsible to The Subject/ Subject is: THE MUSE and anything might happen, for example, Creation.
I do believe you are much better at depiction with your iPhone than I will ever be with my little paint brush.
It's A Sign/ REDUX

You remember The Nude? Probably not; but if so; this is such. The emphasis here is more on the conveyor of The Painting rather than The Image; i.e.its physicality as a board, with weight and size and depth. With text and an easel we proclaim it "a Sign". We sold advertisements "within" it, decades ago.
Now it is salvaged, rescued, Life Preserved, if you will AND unfortunately finds itself as a Photograph. Expect related events in

We had a 40 year relationship with Barnsdall Art Center, for that we are grateful.
Unfortunately we were not competitive with The Barnsdall Fireman, certainly not after
Artist-Directors were replaced by Bureaucratic Directors. At the occasional Exhibition you might spot our efforts through the curtain in the back room.
Figure Painting was sort of a sub-terrestrial secret even to the administrators that ran the place. Over time "The Comers" became fewer and fewer.
If The Barnsdall Art Center ever fully reopens you will be able to take a very nice instructed class in Jewelry Making or Personal Bookmaking and learn to throw a pot.

We reported 30-40 times a year to a Friday 9:30 A.M. uninstructed session for 3 hours minus model rests. I made a few chicken scratch alla prima marks/ oil on canvas then went home and made it up.
The decades came and went.

I Love-Hate Borofsky's Santa Monica Monument. "Hate" because it states so perfectly that ART is foiled, and "Love", for the same
reason; as said work, so decisively does state "The Impossibility Of...". {You disagree already?/ More Power To You!}
(You must be of The "I Know What I Like School" (I surmise - "from stem to stern".)
Of course it is consensus that is impossible and that is both Good and Horrible.
ART is here to stay, even if you certainly are not - and your species is a bit into classification: "Shall Be Determined". Also tenuous
is our comprehension of Reality, Necessitating tubes of Goo, Paper & Pencil, etc. to "Get It Down" OR the olde "Grab Hold!".
Will proverbial Tree "make-sound" when...? (I am of The Half Empty Entourage.)
When I sift through My Detritus, I realize The Zeitgeist is good for only an hour (15 minutes in a war Zone). By and large, the few surviving artistes I know are a tad (diplomatically edited) odious to me that I do prefer Message In A Bottle. That would be faith in "The Unknown/ Unknowns", even if they are Warholians. They All Know, Not What They Do. Between The Nothings & The NoOnes, not a location Andy Dandy had in mind. Of course I am An Innocent & plead The Universal Defense:"I merely followed The Donald into madness".
It is an NFT Universe and decoration not Art is displayed behind The Commentator's and Pitchman's heads. We wouldn't have it any other way.
Let The Fireman run for Dab Warden. Dab Warden has been Dab Warden for much too long. Maybe we can lose The Suits with plutonium buttons also. Who knows? Such a crap shoot! Be glad you were not hired to be the consciousness of an ambiguous monument. The Fine Art Road is long and winding with many stops. Meet me at Babel.
